You can already learn the basics of navigation during the Open Water Diver course, but many beginner divers are satisfied with simply following the dive leader. Understanding how to navigate at a dive site increases your comfort, confidence, and safety during your underwater adventures.
The SSI Navigation Specialty program provides in-depth information about the equipment, skills, knowledge, and experience needed to safely navigate an underwater dive site using both a compass and natural navigation techniques.
Prerequisite: OWD or Junior OWD certification
The course includes two shore dives.
Complete your registration in the SSI training system according to the instructions below.
- Scan this QR code or register on the divessi.com website. Complete the registration process and make sure to provide an active email address.
- You will receive a confirmation email from SSI—once that’s done, your registration is complete.
- The easiest way to access your profile is through the MySSI app, which you can download for both IOS and Android. Fill in your details and upload a photo that will also appear on your certification card. Be sure to read the photo requirements.
- All your data, information, learning materials, dive logs, and certification card will be available here. Take some time to explore the features of the app.
